Capacity Building

GEO Capacity Building Strategy

GEO intends to strengthen the capability of all countries, in particular developing countries, to use Earth observation data and products in a sustainable manner and to contribute observations and systems to GEOSS.

The GEO capacity building strategy follows the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) concept of a global partnership between those whose capacity needs development and those who are able to assist in the process, recognizing that activities have intertwined social, environmental, and economic impacts.

CEOS

CEOS Working Group on Education and Training (WGEdu)

The CEOS strategy for Earth observation education and training is the creation of an effective coordination and partnership mechanism among CEOS agencies and institutions offering education and training.

Tasked to develop a plan for future CEOS activities in education and training, particularly in developing countries, a coordination and partnership mechanism between CEOS agencies was established.

The goal of the WGEdu is to facilitate activities that enhance international education and training in Earth observation techniques, data analysis interpretation, and applications.
