GEOportal Quick Start GuideWelcome to GEOportal: the gateway to Earth Observation data, information and services! To quickly start using and exploiting the portal's full potential please read through the following guide. Finding InformationFrom the GEOportal homepage there are two main methods for retrieving resources. In addition there are some common elements in searching for information:Browse Using Free Text SearchBy entering search terms into search field in the title bar it is possible to conduct a parallel search between GEOportal local resources and a federated search through the GEOSS Clearinghouse. Simply type in text into the search box and click on GO to conduct the search Browse GEOportal resources by Societal Benefit Areas (SBA)On the left side of the homepage is a series of icons that represent the thematic Societal Benefit Areas of the GEOportal. Selecting one of these items opens a pre-filtered set of search results grouped by categories. You will be driven to a page where all the results are grouped into different resource categories. If you want you can also refine your search by Societal Benefit Area sub-category and/or by Geographical location, in order to better target your results to your interests. Search ResultsEach search path returns a core element of results, although the precise view of each varies slightly. The core element consists of a central block of search results filtered according to the search terms and parameters. The results are filtered according to a categorization based on the type and nature of the date. Clicking on the Selecting the resource of interest to open the Resource Information Page, with the full description of the service and the access to other related metadata. Resource Information PageWhen selecting on an item from a GEOportal search results page a new page loads with detailed information on the resource. The page is split into a number of elements
