USGS EROS is preparing to support first responders and emergency services working in response to Hurricane Wilma. EROS will begin channeling vitalimagery to state and local governments, FEMA, and other federal agencies. Theseimages will help prioritize relief efforts. In cooperation with FEMA, EROS is the clearinghouse for all aerial, satellite, and ground information on areas struck by natural disasters. EROS will receivepre- and post-hurricane imagery files of the affected area and immediatelyupload them to an FTP data server for rapid release to relief organizations andagencies, as well as government disaster management teams.
